Lindy Hop is a dance genre of Harlem, New York origin, made in the 1930s and 40s with Swing music that ravaged America and the world.
It’s an American jazz dance of African descent. In addition to being the first partnered swing dance, it is also the ancestor of all the swing dances that came after (such as Boogie Woogie, Rock’n’Roll, Jive, East Coast Swing). Lindy Hop was named after Charles Lindhberg (aka Lucky Lindy), who flew across the Atlantic Ocean from New York to Paris for the first time in the history of the world on May 20-21, 1927. Lindy Hop is one of the most entertaining dances, especially notable for its speed and acrobatics.
